What I Have Learned Lately
Manifesting is real.
I had been told about it for years, and I had always been dubious. But after some recent health issues didn’t appear to be getting better, I looked at some alternatives solutions. Which led me to journaling, gratitude, and manifesting (amongst other things)
After putting it off for years I decided to try it.
Every single day I wrote down 3 things I was grateful for and 3 things I wanted out of life.
For the manifesting part I wrote down all sorts of things which changed nearly every day. But the one thing I wrote down EVERY SINGLE TIME just came true. I swear to God.
When I realised this, I was surprised but if I think back through my life, everything I ever really wanted has come true.
- I wanted to have a business that I could work from anywhere, that happened by accident.
- I wanted to play Rugby in Europe. That happened when I stopped looking for it.
- I wanted to be a rugby coach; all these amazing mentors came out of no were. Opportunities appeared.
I could go on and on.
While I’m on the subject, the biggest thing I have noticed from practicing gratitude is that you notice way more. Flowers, dogs, interesting people doing interesting things, the taste and smell of coffee, sunsets. Life is not so bad. Worth a try.
Journaling and writing in general is a great tool.
Why haven’t I posted on social media lately?
There’s something about 5am walks. I find I do my best thinking and often have realisations that I write down.
Recently the thought came to me that when you post on social media its entirely to gain the approval of someone else. Even when promoting the podcasts, I would do bullshit posts just to hopefully get engagement that would get followers and maybe one day I would make a buck out of podcasts. I didn’t care about the thing I was posting.
I have been very guilty of it for a long time. Why do you want other people to know what you’re up to in your everyday life? I don’t want to live like that.
I’m sure ill falter again, but for the now I’m going to follow Ed Sheeran’s philosophy of only using social media as an advertising tool. I will do podcasts again. I will advertise these better than I have.
What stuck with me this week.
I heard this from 2 separate people Alex Hermozi and Jimmy Carr.
“You should aim to outwork your self doubt”.
I love that. Great advice for anyone that suffers with impostor syndrome.
Podcasts I Enjoyed.
There are two this week.
Jimmy Carr on Modern Wisdom.
Fantastically introspective and philosophical. Jimmy has a unique yet logical way of looking at the world and Chris Williamson is a fantastic interviewer. There are so many good thoughts in this podcast. This is more a philosophical discussion then a comedy podcast.

Gordon Ramsay on High Performance.
Some great takeaways from this one, Gordon rose from an underprivileged background and saw a path to “becoming exceptional” (his words) under the tutelage of the legendary chef Marco-Pierre White. My favourite part was Gordons 3 Non-Negotiable rules for anyone that works with him.
1) Be a sponge.
2) Take it professionally, don’t take it personally.
3) Have a thick skin, you cannot please everyone, nor should you try.
Great advice for Chefs and aspiring Rugby Coaches.
